As the weather begins to heat up and flowers appear I start to receive the annual invitations to Melbourne Cup events. Spring Racing season has begun! I don’t know about the rest of you, I like horses but I have never been someone who bets on a winner. Spring for me is all about the fashion!

I think one of the best tips when shopping for a Melbourne Cup outfit is to find something that is beautiful but comfortable. Typically a Melbourne Cup event is an almost full day affair. You will be stuck in those sky high stiletto’s and body-con dress ALL DAY LONG. So I recommend choosing a dress you can breath in. Something that manages to cope with the heat yet still gives you that elegant edge.

My own personal feeling with racing is that this is an elegant event. Racing started in England and the dress code there is strict. I personally don’t like my cleavage exposed or particularly short dresses. Choosing elegance will never go out of style.

Last year I chose a gorgeous dress from one of my faves Review. I find Review are specialists when it comes to finding that perfect glam outfit head to toe ready for the day.

Melbourne cup hair in my opinion should be soft curls like pictured or if your outfit demands an elegant up do to compliment your head piece.

And lastly of course always choose the perfect accessories. Mine always include my timepiece, chosen from my extensive John Taylor Watches collection. Next would be the perfect handbag, this one pictured is from Review and I absolutely adore it. The last essential is a really good pair of sunglasses. You will be watching those ponies trotting around most of the day and you have to protect your eyes!

My final tip is to have fun! Grab yourself a champagne, bring your friends along and enjoy the atmosphere.

Happy Racing Loves.
